Four Nations Cup – Results

Congratulations to everyone who battled through rain and floods, early on Sunday morning, to make it to the competition in Walton on Thames! It was quite an achievement to even make it there, so everyone deserves a big round of applause.

This was a new competition, open to competitors from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and it was great to see so many competitors and supporters from near and far.

The competition got off to a slow start for Beckenham, with a few early exits in the kata, despite some very strong performances. At the end of the kata competition we were left with only 1 silver medal and were feeling slightly disheartened. Then came the kumite competition, and everything changed! Our medal tally went from 1 to 7, and would have been even higher if some split decisions had gone the other way. We had a brilliant moment when three female members of the Beckenham team were on the podium together!

A brilliant effort from everyone competing, and a special mention for Martina Martinovic who, due to an administrative error with the entries, was unfortunately not able to compete. Martina did a brilliant job cheering the team on and selling the commemorative t-shirts, and we are all sure she will put in a medal-winning performance at the next competition 🙂
